Journal of Soft Computing and Artificial Intelligence

The Journal of Soft Computing and Artificial Intelligence (JSCAI) is an international peer-reviewed publication that publishes comprehensive research and review articles on all aspects of soft computing and artificial intelligence. JSCAI aims to provide a global platform for academics, experts and researchers to integrate and disseminate the latest developments and their practical applications in various areas of soft computing and artificial intelligence. 

This guide is written for authors who wish to submit articles to the Journal of Soft Computing and Artificial Intelligence. The publication language for our journals is English.

Rules for writing
For more details and suggestions on formatting an article, please see our Author's Guide below. After completing the preparation of your manuscript, The following 3 documents must be uploaded to the system.

Research Article

A research article presents the results of original research and evaluates its value to the state of knowledge in a particular field by presenting the relevant facts and conclusions in a systematic and logical format. Research articles should be no longer than 20 pages, include an abstract of no more than 300 words, no more than 60 references, and include no more than 10 figures and tables.

Review Articles

A review article is written to highlight the most current advances, discoveries, and ideas in a variety of fields. Review articles must provide an objective overview of the current state of knowledge of the topic. Review articles should address topics that fall within the journal's purview and are of active, current interest. Review articles should be no more than 20 pages in length, contain an abstract of no more than 300 words, include no more than 120 references, and contain no more than 12 figures and tables in total. Major sections should be numbered consecutively (1. Introduction, 2. Historical Context, etc.), while subsections should be numbered 1.1, 1.2, and so on. All reviews must include an introduction, conclusion, and intervening paragraphs with appropriate section headings. The introduction should emphasise the importance of the topic, while the body and references should be detailed. Reviews must be supported by the author's own previously published work(s).

General Requirements
Articles for this journal should be no longer than 20 pages, including appendices, figures, and tables. Tables and figures should be inserted directly into the article, close to where they are cited. Both tables and figures should be numbered consecutively from 1 to n. Do not start the numbering over for each section of the article. The article should be written in Microsoft Word. It has been our experience that short articles are often better and more logical, so we stick to a fairly strict page limit. It is important that authors follow our instructions carefully. To help you do this, we have written this document in the recommended format, and the Word version above includes embedded style sheets.

Page Limit
The full text should not exceed 20 pages. It should include an abstract of up to 300 words. The 20 pages should include all tables, figures, and references.

Margins
The main text of the article should be 1.15 and justified in Times New Roman font (11 point).  

Spacing
Use a space after punctuation marks such as periods, commas, semicolons, and colons. Do not use a space after periods in abbreviations (e.g., i.e., etc., U.S.).

Title
For main headings, use Times New Roman font, 14 point, bold, with all capital letters capitalized and centered.  For second-level headings, use Times New Roman font, 11 point, and capitalize the first letter of the first word. Please use MS Word fonts for headings. 

Header / Footer
Please do not include headers or footers in your article.

Summary and keywords
Use no more than 300 words in the abstract to indicate the nature of the topic and briefly summarize the findings of the article. In the next cell, write "Keywords:" followed by up to five keywords.

The body of the article
The main body of the article should be paginated in two columns and should be between 5 and 20 pages long, starting with the introduction  and ending with the reference page(s). Page numbers should appear at the bottom of the pages.

Footnotes, figures, and tables
Footnotes
Footnotes are generally not recommended, but may be used when necessary. They should be numbered consecutively and separated from the text at the bottom of the page on which they appear by a line one inch long. Two footnotes on the same page should be separated by a line space. Be sure to follow the margin requirements at the bottom of the page. Footnotes should not be inserted into equations.
Figures and tables
Use 10 pt Times New Roman font for figures and table captions. Figures and tables should be placed immediately after the first citation in the text and should be placed so that they can be easily referred to when reading the text. Try to make them as readable as possible. Captions should be below the figure, centered, not bolded, and there should be no periods after the figure number or at the end of the line. Table captions should be placed above the table, with the table number on the first line, the description on the next line, both lines left justified, and no periods at the end of the table number, or two lines above the table. Leave one line of space between the end of the caption and the table. For both table and figure captions, capitalize only the first letter of the first word, unless the word is normally capitalized. Do not use bold fonts. Do not use periods after table and figure numbers or at the ends of lines. Look at all the tables and figures in the text. Tables should be centered across the page whenever possible, as shown in Table 1. The entries in the cells of the table should be left-aligned. The font used for cell entries is at the author's discretion. In general, tables look better and are easier to read if you minimize the number of vertical lines and use only horizontal lines whenever possible, as shown in the template file.

Reference Quotations
Please use the IEEE Citation Reference to format your references. Books, journals, and other references should be numbered in the main text of the document.

Citations
If a citation has two or more sentences and four or more lines, it should be separated from the main text by 1.5-inch left and right margins.

Formulas
All formulas should be on separate lines, aligned, and numbered consecutively. Make sure all symbols are adequately defined. Identification numbers should be written on the right side of the formula.

Attachments
If it is necessary to include an appendix in your paper, the appendices should follow the main text of the paper and precede the references. Please use appendices judiciously. All tables and figures should be cited in the text and placed in the body of the paper as close as possible to where they are referenced in the text. After appendices, other statements should be written in the following order:

All sources cited in the text should be included in the bibliography, and all entries in the reference list should be given in the text in the style of IEEE. An example of a source list can be found below.

Article file
This file contains the title of the article, abstract, keywords, introduction of the main text, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgements, funding information, conflict-free statement, authors' contribution, ethics committee approval statement, research and publication ethics statement, and references; appendices (if any) should contain information.

ORCID
All authors submitting articles must have an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) identifier (ID) linked to their affiliated organizations' accounts. We encourage all authors and reviewers to register for a free ORCID ID or link it to their existing ORCID ID account when updating their account, submitting an article, or reviewing an article in our peer review system.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

The Journal of Soft Computing and Artificial Intelligence (JSCAI) is committed to applying the highest standards of publication ethics and to adhering to the following principles of the Publication Ethics and Abuse Statement. The recommendations and guidelines developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA) for journal editors and publishers have been adopted and implemented by our journal.

Journal of Soft Computing and Artificial Intelligence Publication Ethics and Policy

• Manuscripts submitted to the JSCAI Journal for publication must not have been previously published in or simultaneously submitted to another journal for publication.
• Manuscripts prepared on the basis of presentations made at scientific meetings may be submitted to the Journal, provided they are not published in full.
• Incoming articles will be pre-reviewed by the editorial board.
• Manuscripts that are not suitable for the journal's publication purpose may be rejected directly or returned to the author to make them suitable for the publication purpose and publication rules without being evaluated by a reviewer.
• Manuscripts that are suitable for the journal's publication purpose will be included in the double-blind peer review process.
• The Editorial Board is entitled to suggest necessary corrections and changes according to the comments and suggestions of the reviewers during the preparation of manuscripts sent to the journal or to reject the manuscript at any stage.
• After the accepted article has gone through the necessary corrections in the review process, it will be sent to the publisher to prepare the page layout.
• The proof of the manuscripts whose layout phase has been completed is sent to the respective (corresponding) author for final approval for printing.
• Once approved by the author, articles that have passed through these stages are published online for inclusion in the journal with page numbers.
• Our journal reserves the right to check submitted articles for plagiarism at any stage using special software.
• To this end, plagiarism or falsified data, forgery (falsification or manipulation of tables or research data), and investigations into inappropriate use of human or animal subjects in research may.
• Manuscripts that do not meet these standards will not be published in the journal. This rule also applies in the event that non-compliance with these standards is discovered in the post-publication phase and the article must be withdrawn from publication.
• Due to publication ethics, our journal will report cases of suspected plagiarism or duplicate publication.
• Our journal relies on the Publication Ethics Flowcharts developed by COPE in cases of possible abuse or violation of publication ethics.

Duties of the Author(s)

• Authors must ensure the originality of the manuscripts they submit.
• They must declare that the manuscript has not been previously published or intended for publication anywhere and in any language.
• They must comply with the applicable copyright agreements and laws.
• Copyrighted material such as tables, figures, or other quotations will be published in the journal only with valid permission and copyright clearance.
• Authors should appropriately cite other authors, contributors, or sources and acknowledge relevant sources.
• The author(s) of research type articles must have been involved in at least 3 stages of "designing the study", "collecting the data", "examining the data", "writing the article" and "confirming the accuracy of the data and analysis".
• Authors are required to declare any potential conflicts of interest or competing areas of interest (including financial relationships or personal overlap that may be related to the study) that should be known about the publication they sent to the journal and that could potentially influence the findings or scientific outcome of the study.
• They should clearly disclose any financial contributions, sponsorship, or project support for the study.
• A conflict of interest does not preclude publication of the study in question in the journal.
• If the author discovers a significant scientific error or discrepancy in his/her published article, he/she is obliged to contact the responsible editor as soon as possible to withdraw the manuscript or correct the error.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers should review and send the review comments in due time period. If the manuscript is not in the reviewer’s field of interest, then the manuscript must be sent back to editor so that the other reviewers can be assigned without losing time.

Contribution
Reviewers are the main members contributing to the quality of the journal being a peer reviewed one. The reviewers who feel unqualified to review the received manuscript must swiftly notify the editor and reject to review that manuscript.

Confidentiality
Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Objectivity standards
Reviews should be objectively performed. Personal criticism of the author is unsuitable. Referees should frankly express their aspects with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of sources
Reviewers should describe relating published study which has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also point out to the editor’s attention any vital resemblance or coincide between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal information.

Disclosure & conflict of interest
Reviewers should not take into account the manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest derived from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships/connections with any of the authors, companies or institutions linked to the manuscripts.

Duties of the Editor (s)

• The Editorial Board of the Journal of Soft Computing and Artificial Intelligence consists of the Editor-in-Chief, the Editors, and the Associate Editors.
• The board guarantees editorial independence.
• Articles in the journal: It evaluates its authors only on the scientific content, without regard to their ethnicity, gender, gender preferences, nationality, religious beliefs or political philosophies, or personal interactions that may exist with association leaders or volunteer leaders.
• It ensures that a fair peer review process is conducted for the publication of submitted manuscripts.
• It guarantees that all information about the submitted article will be kept confidential until it is published.
• The editors are responsible for the content and overall quality of the publication.
• It has adopted the principle of issuing corrections via correction and errata pages when necessary.
• Editor-in-Chief: He ensures that there is no conflict of interest or competing interest between authors, editors, and reviewers.
• In the Journal of Soft Computing and Artificial Intelligence, the Editorial Board is responsible for appointing reviewers and making positive or negative decisions on the publication of manuscripts.

Journal Policy

The article evaluation process

- Referee invitation validity period: 30 days.
- Additional time allowed for referee invitation: 15 days
- Time allowed for reviewer evaluation: 21 days.
- Time allowed for the author to make corrections: 30 days.
- Additional time allowed for the reviewer to evaluate the article: 7 days

Salary Policy
No fee is charged to authors for reviewing and printing articles sent to our journal.

Article retraction procedure
Withdrawal of a published article is done at the joint request of all authors of the article concerned. Information about the withdrawn article will be published under the title "RETRACTION" in the first issue that appears after the author(s) submits the request to our editorial office.

The Journal of Soft Computing and Artificial Intelligence is completely free. There is no Article Processing Charge (APC) for authors.
